Exam Information

There are three exams scheduled in this class.  The first and second exam each contain 75 questions worth one point each.  The third exam contains 100 questions worth one point each.  Exams are the single most important contributor to your point total.  Please remember, however, that you can have a major impact on your point accumulation by completing all of the exercises.  This fact should be of interest for those who may not be good test takers.  By the way, if you would like to investigate methods that may help you improve your study and test taking skills, click here.

To help you prepare for the exams, I am willing to schedule a review session a few days before each exam.  The review sessions are divided into two parts: 1) my review of each chapter with special attention to major topics and important maps, tables, and/or graphs; and 2)my response to your questions about any lecture or text topic that you would like clarified.  Therefore, you must have studied the notes and the text prior to the review to obtain maximum value from this session.  The review sessions are usually held at 4:30 PM in the classroom.  The specific day will be announced in class.

Please work hard in all your classes.  Do not let the sun set on your potential career!

Practice Questions

Another way I hope to help you do well on exams is to provide some practice questions.  My reason for providing these sample questions is because students often claim that they would score higher on exams if they knew what types of questions to expect.  The vast majority of exam questions will be multiple choice, but some matching and map questions may appear as well.  The details about each exam are provided in the review session.

The proper use of these practice questions is to study your notes and text first.  Then, use the questions to determine your general level of understanding of the topic in question.  You might want to try this by yourself or with a classmate.  Study groups can be quite useful if everyone contributes.  Remember, the answers are NOT provided in order to force you to do your part in the learning.  If you are uncertain of your choice, please check the text or notes for the correct answer.  In that way, you will have another exposure to the material!
