Using Solver

1.      Click on the Tools menu and select ‘Solver’ to launch the ‘Solver Parameters’ dialog (you may need to add Solver).

2.      Enter the four parameters needed by solver.

·         Target Cell: The objective function result (final answer)

·         Equal to Max\Min: Max or Min the answer.  In this example, we want Max

·         By Changing Cells: The cells for the variable values.  We named those cells ‘b_variables’, so enter that name here.

·         Constraints: To add a constraint, click on the “Add” button.  The first two constraint answers need to be ‘<=’, while the last two need to be ‘>=’ to their constraint values. 

Click the options button and check the ‘Assume LinearModel’ and ‘Assume Non-Negative’ boxes.

3.      Click the “Solve” Button.  Note that your worksheet should now have changed as shown below.
