Using Solver:

1.      Click on the Tools menu and select ‘Solver’ to launch the ‘Solver Parameters’ dialog.

2.      Enter the four parameters requested in the ‘Solver Parameters’ dialog.

·      Target Cell: The objective function answer cell.

·      Equal to Max\Min: Whether we are seeking to maximize or minimize the objective function.  In this example, we want Max

·      By Changing Cells: The cells containing the Variable Values.  If you have named those cells, enter that name here, otherwise enter the range.

·      Subject to the Constraints: The  three constraint answers need to be <= their constraint values; the last two need to be >= .

Click on ‘Options’, and check the boxes for ‘Assume Linear Model’ and ‘Assume Non-Negative’.

3.      Click the “Solve” Button.  Note that your worksheet has now changed as shown at right.
