5. After you click ‘Solve,’ the Solver Add-In will attempt to find an optimal solution to the problem. Once it is done, you will also see a “Solver Results” dialog box. |

6. If the problem has been entered correctly, and if there is an optimal solution (there is for all of these sample problems), Solver will report that a solution has been found. |

7. You can use this dialog box to create an answer report. To do so, select “Answer” from the list of reports and click “OK”. Your report will be automatically generated on a new page of your current workbook. (Click on the “Answer Report 1” tab near the lower left hand corner of Excel to view the report.) |

If Solver reports that it was unable to find a solution,
or if your results on an example don’t match those shown, you have likely
made an error when entering the problem. |
|
|
|
· Look your values over carefully to make sure they are all correct, and have all been entered in the correct cell. |
|
|
|
· Check the calculations you have entered in the Answer column to make sure they are correct and refer to the proper cells. |
|
|
|
· Check the information you entered in the Solver Parameters dialog, to make sure that it is all correct. Look especially for mistakes in your constraints. |
