Zoology Lab Study Guide

This study guide is an interactive pdf document that was created by Polly Morrison, a senior biology major at Kutztown University. The guide reviews basic characters and representative animals (with photographs of slides and dissections) from the major animal phyla. It is only intended to supplement your study material for the Zoology lab practicals.  The guide does not review all materials/exercises covered in lab and may include some material you have not covered.  You must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer (most computers already have this) for the guide to operate.

Important Note: Currently, the guide works only on PC computers with the most recent update to Adobe Reader (version 8.1.2).  It may not work on Mac computers.  If the links within the outline page do not work on your computer, you will have to update Adobe Reader.  To do this in Adobe Reader, click on help and check for updates.  Follow the prompts to complete the updating process and open this webpage again.  If you have any questions about the guide, contact Dr. Underwood, e-mail:  underwoo@kutztown.edu.

Using the Guide

By clicking on the link above, you will be taken to an outline of each of the major animal phyla. Next, click one of 3 choices below each phylum (review page, practice quiz, or non-labeled pictures) to be taken to a separate page.   The review pages provide basic information and links to photographs. By clicking on a genus/species, you will be linked to a photograph of a specimen, slide or dissection. To return to that phyla description or the main menu, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the appropriate link back.  The practice quizzes test your knowledge of each phylum with exam-like questions.  Finally, the non-labeled pictures provide the opportunity to quiz yourself on the structures of various organisms in each phylum. Good Luck!
