Every student at KU receives an e-mail account on the KU server. The administration uses this e-mail address to send out important messages about emergencies, school closings, deadlines, etc. However, most students use their own accounts at AOL, hotmail, yahoo, etc., and the administration does not have these addresses.
Fortunately, you can configure your KU account to forward any messages to your other account by following the steps below:
1. Go to the KU Webmail address:
You should see this screen:
2. Enter your User ID and password. If this is the first time you are logging on to the KU e-mail server, your User ID is the first letter of your first name, followed by the first four letters of your last name, followed by a randomly-chosen three-digit number that you were assigned. Your "temporary" password is the first four letters of your last name followed by your birthdate in the following format: 032278, where the first two digits are the month of your birth (with a leading 0 if necessary), the next two digits are the day of your birth (with a leading 0 if necessary), and the last two digits are the last two digits of the year of your birth (1978 becomes 78, for example).
You should next see this screen:
3. Click on the "Options" tab at the top of the screen.
You should next see this screen:
4. Click on the "Settings" button on the left.
You should next see this screen:
5. Type the e-mail address(es) that you want your KU mail forwarded to in the box at the bottom of the screen.
