SUBJECT: 7th grade general math
TOPIC: Adding and subtracting decimals
INTERACTIVITY: The students will use the bulletin board as a "game board." They will race to complete each problem on the worksheet. Whoever finishes the problem first, will select a note card from the bulletin board. The note card will provide direction for what to do. For example, a note card may say, "You completed a 20 yard pass, move 20 yards toward your end zone." The student with the most touchdowns after the 15 questions on the worksheet will win the game and receive two points of extra credit.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: They will race to complete each problem on the worksheet. Whoever finishes the problem first, will select a note card from the bulletin board. The note card will provide direction for what to do. For example, a note card may say, "You completed a 20 yard pass, move 20 yards toward your end zone." The student with the most touchdowns after the 15 questions on the worksheet will win the game and receive two points of extra credit
TIME: 10-15 minutes
SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION: I used construction paper to cut out and make the football field. I built a flap using construction paper to hold the note cards. The border is from wrapping paper.
CREDIT: The students will be required to complete the bulletin board assignment. They will turn this in for a participation grade. The student that won the head to head competition will receive an additional 2 points on his or her grade.
OTHER COMMENTS: I feel that the directions for my bulletin board pretty much describe everything someone would need to know to use my bulletin board. The people playing with my bulletin board would have to know how to add and subtract decimals.
