About Me
I hold a
M.Ed. in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics from
Kutztown University and B.A. in Mathematics from Alvernia
College. I have 26 years of experience teaching mathematics
at the secondary, community college, and university levels.
For 15 years I have taught mathematics at Kutztown
University. This is my
fourth
year as a full time tenure-track employee in the Mathematics
Department. My primary teaching duties at the University
involve teaching Mathematics Education courses. I serve on several
university, college, and departmental committees. I co-advise
the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Student
Affiliate chapter on campus. One of my sections of MAT 021 is
part of a learning community.
Through
involvement in NCTM, I continue to stay abreast of changes and
practices affecting mathematics education, technology in the classroom,
and alternative assessment techniques. My goal is to provide
authentic, motivating, and challenging tasks for my students so they in
turn will have models to utilize when placed in a classroom setting.
My husband
is an elementary school teacher and we have 2 children. I
enjoy running in the early morning hours and compete in local road
races.
