It is easy to put symbols such as ∈ or ∪. Go to this link and copy-and-paste. HTML coders and TeX users would appreciate viewing underlying codes. ∈ is coded as ∈ and ∪ as ∪. Note that each entity must be surrounded by & and ;. Pay attention to small details such as italicizing suitable characters (x, y, …) or changing fonts. If you use sans-serif fonts (such as Verdana) for text, I recommend that you use serif fonts (such as Times) for math symbols. Many viewers use their web browsers with default font settings that honor what web pages specify. But, you do not have total control of what fonts viewers will use in viewing your web pages. Check out this example web page that uses a number of these symbols.
