Final Exam Information

For those who want to know more about what is going to happen on the final exam, I have put together some common Q&A’s to satisfy your curiosity.

Before the final, is there any extra work I can do to improve my grade?
Sorry, but no.

When is our final?
The date & time can be found at this link. (Not applicable to online or summer courses)

Is the final comprehensive?
Yes. Its coverage is found at the usual link on this page.
After Exam 3, new topics are covered in the remaining classes until the finals week arrives. These new topics are tested heavily on the final, accounting for about 70–80% of the final. The rest come from other topics covered this semester.

Will definitions and theorems be on the final?
Yes.

What score do I need on the final?
The color PDF grade report you receive(d) after Exam 3 has the exact score you need on the final in order to earn a target grade.

How should we prepare for the final?
A short answer is that everybody has his/her own way of preparing for the final.
A medium answer consists of some suggestions from Yours Truly. For example:
Relying on your notes (not the book), make a list of every topic covered.
This list is important because it helps you organize your thoughts on what topics were covered in this course.

Relying on your notes (not the book), make a list of definitions and theorems.

Make a list of two exercises for each of the topics/definitions/theorems on the above lists.

Repeatedly practice these exercises until you are 100% (not 87%) familiar with every topic covered in this course. Randomizing the order of these hand-picked exercises is an excellent approach.

For the 20–30% portion of the final, the best preparation would be to go over the blank quizzes and exams with their keys.

When & where can I find my grade?
You will receive another color PDF grade report from me by email. Do NOT nag me. Sit tight and wait.
