Human Participant Protections Education for Research Teams

Before a research assistant interacts with participants in any study, they should be trained in the ethical requirements for using human participants in research. The National Institutes of Health provide this training, on-line, via there website.

It consists of a web based course in the form of programmed learning that you can take either for credit, or for a certificate only. The training provides several lessons, each followed by a short quiz. The material in each lesson provides the basic information you need to do well on the quiz. At the end of the training you are provided with a Certificate of Completion.

The training can be done at one time or you may save your work and return to the web-site to complete the training. Once you have registered, you can log back in using the username and password you provided and pick up where you left off.

At the end of the training you will only have one chance to print your certificate. Please print the certificate so it can be put on file in our lab. Therefore, before you begin the last lesson, be sure you are working on a computer that is connected to a printer and that you can print a web page.
