Soy expansion

I study smallholder integration into soy expansion in Eastern Paraguay. I examine soybean cropping and soy-related conflicts in campesino, indigenous, and Mennonite communities (2018, 2016). Based on work done with Jon DiLella and William Havrilchak, I am also exploring deforestation patterns in response to soy expansion in the same study region.

Street art

I research political graffiti in Asunción (Paraguay), especially as it intersects with rural issues (2019) and women's rights. I am involved in research with Glenn Roedel, comparing density of street murals to socioeconomic variables in Philadelphia, PA. In the same city and in Camden, NJ, I examine animal representations in public art as these relate to environmental justice issues.
