Example: Graph   f (x) = 2x + 5  and its inverse   f –1(x)  in the same xy-plane.
 
What to Enter Screen Shots
Press GRAPH and enter  2X + 5  in \Y1=.
 
Note that  X  is entered with X,T,θ,n.
Scroll to the next line \Y2= and enter X.
Press GRAPH and you will see these graphs:
Press 2ND and DRAW (above PRGM).
Scroll UP until 8:DrawInv is selected.
Press ENTER.
Press VARS (variables).
Scroll right to select Y-VARS.
Press 1 to select Function…. In the next window, 1:Y1 is already selected.
Press 1 to select Y1. Then, Y1 is automatically pasted after DrawInv. (You are selecting which Y to graph the inverse of.)
Press ENTER and the graph of the inverse of Y1 = 2X+5 is drawn.
 
Notice that the graphs of the original function Y1 and its inverse are symmetrical with respect to the diagonal line  Y2 = X .
