All exams are closed-book and closed notes. |
| • |
Each exam carries 100 points. |
| • |
Each
exam usually has 10 to 12 questions. It may have
a few bonus questions at the end.

Many problems on an exam are similar to those on quizzes, assigned exercises, and examples in the book and in your notes.
|
| • |
Virtually every
problem on an exam is a partial-credit problem.
So,
even if your final answer is wrong, you may still
collect some credit
from
mathematically correct
work. That is why it is important to practice writing out
solutions as you do exercises.
|
| • |
On the other hand,
if you write only the answer, you are unlikely to collect any credit at all.
Always show your algebra. |
| |
|
| • |
As
you prepare for an exam, give yourself a mock exam and time yourself.
This is important, so that you would not feel pressured for the first
time on the real exam.
