| What are Bonus Points? Definition 1 (Webster’s New World Dictionary) bonus (n.) Anything given in addition to the customary amount. Definition 2 Let b be the total bonus points you accumulate during the semester. Then, your grade will be determined by the following formula: ![]() Q&A’s Q1. I got 107 points on an exam. But, the exam officially carried only 100 points. A1. You earned 100/100 on the exam, plus 7 bonus points going into the b in the above formula. Q2. I got 12 points on a quiz. But, the quiz officially carried only 10 points. A2. You earned 10/10 on the quiz, plus 2 bonus points going into the b in the above formula. Q3. I got 3/5 on a stand-alone bonus quiz. How is the 3 points factored into my grade? A3. Any bonus is part of the b in the above formula. Q4. I missed a bonus quiz. What would happen? A4. You missed it. Q5. If I do badly on a bonus quiz, would it hurt my grade? A5. See Definition 2 above. Q6. If I do well on a bonus quiz, would it boost my grade? A6. See Definition 2 above. |
