MAT 105: College Algebra

This course is intended for students with an elementary knowledge of algebra who need more work in algebraic topics before taking more advanced mathematics courses. Topics include properties of the real numbers, problem-solving using equations and inequalities, algebraic functions, graphing, and systems of equations. A graphing calculator is required for this course. Prerequisites: Two years of algebra at the high school level is the prerequisite for MAT 105.

Course Objectives:

In this course the student will:

A. Learn the logical and real number foundations of algebra.

B. Develop facility and efficiency in the application of algebraic techniques to the solution of problems.

C. Understand the theories and techniques of algebra which are basic to the further study of mathematics and to the study of other disciplines.
